Anywhere from six to ten Master Gardeners volunteer on this project each year. The educational goals of the project are to teach the public about the plants in the garden and how to maintain a sustainable garden. The Master Gardeners and local residents jointly care for a butterfly garden and a water garden. Once a month, during the season, there is a group workday. Also, a series of lectures are arranged throughout the year at the Cumberland Library which is located on the Monastery grounds. In the spring, there is a Gardening Day that is open to the public with plant sales, demonstrations, and talks on gardening topics. Local gardening clubs participate at these events along with the Master Gardeners. The Town of Cumberland is also involved with this project. Learn more about this project...and the history of Cumberland Monastery From Providence: Take Route 146 North to Route 295 North to Exit 11 (Route 114, Diamond Hill Road).
