Description. The Wrentham, MA community garden project, Harvests From the Heart began in April 2010. Staffed by local community volunteers, its primary mission is to provide freshly harvested produce for the Wrentham Food Pantry, and to educate the local citizenry in sound and sustainable agricultural practices Sponsorship.The Parish of St. Mary in Wrentham is our 501.C3 sponsor. Location.The garden is located on Finch Road in The Wrentham Developmental Center complex, a state-owned facility approximately 1.5 miles north of Wrentham center. A Success Story. Thanks to its many dedicated volunteers, the Wrentham Harvests From the Heart project, in its first year of operation, donated over 3,000 pounds of freshly harvested vegetables to the local f Plans for Year 2011. This spring we will begin our second year with the theme, “Growing Up Gardening.” Our goal continues to be a local food producer exclusively for the Wrentham Food Pantry with an increased emphasis on education. A portion of the growing space will be dedicated to a teaching garden for children. Each month during the growing season will feature a garden talk and demonstration. These presentations will In year 2011, the project again will feature square-foot gardening techniques in 4x8 foot beds along with row crops. Additionally, vertical gardening methods will be initiated along with an expansion of drip irrigation. Look for our kiosk at Wrentham Day on the town common.
